Team Working turns any folder into a shared space. Members see changes as they happen; the rest of your notes stays yours alone.

- You decide who staysRemove a member at any time: they lose access and open invitations are cancelled. A shared folder counts toward its owner's 10 GB.
What our server can read, and what it cannot.
End-to-end encryption is off until you turn it on. Once it is on, your notes are encrypted on your device with a key made from your vault passphrase, and our server only receives ciphertext. Here is the whole picture, including what stays readable.

Locked vaultNext version
Today the desktop app keeps your notes as ordinary files, readable by anything else on that computer. The next version adds an optional locked vault: files encrypted on disk, unreadable outside the app, and locked again after a period of inactivity.
Hosted in Switzerland
The API and your data are hosted by Infomaniak in Geneva. Like any server, ours keeps standard request logs (IP address and time) for security; the legal notice says what is kept and why.
Nothing else watching
No ads, no analytics and no third-party scripts, on this site or in the apps. Nothing about you is sold, because nothing is collected to sell.

Summarize a note, pull out its tasks, turn it into flashcards, rewrite or translate a selection, or ask a question across your notes and get an answer with its sources. It is optional, and you choose what runs it.

Made by one person
Mortis Cloud is built and run by Nekuzaky, an independent developer in France. There are no investors and no ads: donations pay for the servers in Switzerland and for the time it takes.
Donations are optional and unlock nothing: everyone gets the same app.

On a Mac, iPhone, iPad or Chromebook, use the web app: there is no native app for them yet. The Windows build is not code-signed yet, so SmartScreen asks for confirmation the first time.

Is it really free?
Yes. The apps, real-time sync, end-to-end encryption, shared folders and 10 GB of storage are free for every account, and nothing is for sale. The project runs on optional donations, which unlock nothing.
Can the server read my notes?
Not their content, once you turn on end-to-end encryption, which is off until you do. Notes are then encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM before they sync, with a key derived from your vault passphrase, which never leaves your device. File and folder names, sizes and dates still travel in clear, because sync matches on them, and pages you publish or share are sent in clear by design.
What if I forget my vault passphrase?
Then your encrypted notes cannot be recovered, by you or by us: the key only ever existed on your devices. Your account password is separate. It can be reset by email, but that does not unlock encrypted notes.
Which devices are supported?
Desktop apps for Windows and Linux, an app for Android, and the web app for everything else, including macOS, iPhone, iPad and Chromebooks. A few tools, such as the canvas, version history and the trash, are only in the desktop app for now.
Does it work offline?
Yes. The desktop app keeps your notes as files on your computer, and the web and Android apps keep a copy on the device. Changes made offline are sent when you reconnect.
Am I locked in?
No. Notes are plain Markdown with standard wikilinks and YAML frontmatter, and the whole vault exports as a .zip of .md files in one click, from the web app too.
Does the AI assistant send my notes anywhere?
Only what you choose to send, and only after you agree. The assistant is optional and lives in the desktop app. With an agent such as Claude or Gemini, the text you send goes to that provider, and the agent runs with no tools and no access to your files. With a local model through Ollama or LM Studio, nothing leaves your computer.
